About LabCanvas
LabCanvas is a scientific design platform for researchers who need accurate, publication-ready visuals in one browser-based workspace.
Who we are
We build tools for scientists, educators and science communicators. LabCanvas combines a vector figure editor, a presentation maker, procedural 3D models, a protein structure viewer and Prism-style graphs and statistics, so teams can prepare journal figures, posters, slides and grant graphics without switching between disconnected apps.
Our story
LabCanvas grew out of Scidart Academy’s work in scientific communication and figure design. Researchers kept rebuilding the same workflows across generic design tools, chemistry sketchers and 3D software, so we built a focused platform for life-science and materials-research visuals instead.
What we do
You can assemble layered figures with adjustable scientific objects, brushes and icons, typeset equations, build slides, customise 3D and protein scenes, analyse data with validated statistics, and export publication-grade TIFF, PDF, SVG and PNG files at the size and resolution journals ask for. We also publish free tools for everyday lab calculations and figure checks.
Trust and credibility
LabCanvas is developed with input from practising scientists. We prioritise reproducible exports, accessible colour workflows and clear documentation. Our statistics engine is checked against SciPy and statsmodels in 1,033 automated tests, and our tools show the formulas they use.
Parent organisation
LabCanvas is developed by Labcanvas Private Limited, an initiative by Scidart Academy, focused on science education and research communication. We are a recognised startup under Startup India and the Kerala Startup Mission.
Authors and team
LabCanvas is built by scientists, designers and educators at Scidart Academy. We combine research-communication experience with hands-on figure-design practice so the product reflects how labs actually prepare manuscripts, posters and grant visuals. Blog posts and tutorials are written and reviewed by the LabCanvas team; read our editorial guidelines for how we publish.
