Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Labcanvas Private Limited (“LabCanvas”, “we”) collects when you use the LabCanvas website, apps and free tools, how we use it and the choices you have. We respect your privacy and keep data collection to what the service needs.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: when you create an account we store your email address, an optional display name and your account settings. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and stored only as secure hashes.
- Your designs: figures, slides, 3D scenes and graph projects are saved in your own browser’s storage on your device. With cloud saving on (you can switch it off for any design), figures and presentations are also stored in your private folder in our cloud storage so you can open them on other computers. Only you can open them; our administrators can view them read-only when that is needed to support you or to keep the service safe.
- Subscription and payments: payments are processed by our payment partner, Dodo Payments, which collects your payment details under its own terms. We receive your subscription status, plan, billing period and the country used for pricing, never your full card details.
- AI assistant: your messages, the files you attach (images, PDFs), a short description of the open design and the assistant’s answers are sent through our server to the AI model provider (for example Anthropic) to produce the answer, and are saved in your account so you can continue the chat. You can delete chats at any time. We record how many AI credits each request uses.
- Library content: the shared icon and 3D-model libraries are downloaded from our database when you browse them. Administrators who upload items store them there.
- Free tools: the tools at /tools run in your browser. Images, numbers and other inputs are not sent to us; inputs may be remembered in your browser’s local storage for convenience.
- Technical data: our hosting provider processes standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and time of the request) to deliver pages and protect the service. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
2. Services you use through LabCanvas
- Scientific databases: fetching a structure or compound sends the identifier you request to the RCSB Protein Data Bank or PubChem.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to provide and secure your account, to operate the libraries and features you use, to answer your messages, and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal data.
4. Storage and security
Account data, cloud designs and saved chats are stored with Supabase, in private storage that only your account (and, read-only, our administrators) can open. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls so that only authorised accounts can change shared content. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
5. Retention and your rights
We keep account data while your account is active. You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data by emailing labcanvasapp@gmail.com. Designs can be deleted by you at any time from the dashboard (which also deletes their cloud copy), and chats from the assistant panel.
6. Children
LabCanvas is intended for students, educators and researchers. Children under 13 should use it only with the involvement of a parent, guardian or teacher.
7. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
